New single! Tour starts this week!
Is this the best of all possible worlds? Nope! But did we make a song with Kimya Dawson and Kool Keith? YUP!
Hey gang, Sean from AJJ here.
We just released a new single called “Best Of All Possible Worlds”, featuring Kimya Dawson and Kool Keith. I am still so completely astonished that we got to make this thing. Kimya and Keith are legendary artists I’ve looked up to since the year 2000, thanks to Napster and Skate & Destroy for Playstation. They’ve informed my sensibilities and influenced AJJ's approach in many ways. It means a lot to work with them.
We began recording this song during the first sessions for Disposable Everything and finished it a few weeks ago. I am enamored with how this song turned out.
Everyone played everything and Everyone did a great job.
Especially producer/mixer David “Deep Dreem” Jerkovich. With his powers of sonic illusion, David LITERALLY created more time and space to hold the weight of Keith and Kimya’s verses; saving the song from caving in on itself like a dying star.
The tune itself is a musing and lyrical round robin that touches on such themes as death in the multiverse, the many worlds artists can create, and the struggle for Palestinian liberation.
Is this the best of all possible worlds? Voltaire already answered this question with Candide: Hell no it isn't.
But getting to make this song with these lovely people made it feel like it is for a little while.
You can listen to it HERE. We hope you enjoy!
In other news, our tour with Say Anything and Greet Death starts this week!
Tickets are going fast for a lot of these shows so grab ‘em soon if you plan on going. Ticket links and more info at ajjtheband.com/shows. We’ll see you there.
